HOPE Board Member and Resident, Rita Teodoro, Launches End of Year Giving Campaign with Appeal to Support Our Mission
October 19, 2022
Dear Friend,
Today I am writing to ask you for a donation to HOPE during our end-of-year giving campaign. I am a Board Member and resident of HOPE, so our mission is to create affordable homes for people with developmental disabilities is important to me.
I have been a HOPE Board Member since 2010, but I have lived in HOPE housing for over 20 years. I currently live in a HOPE Independent Living home in Bellflower.
Before HOPE, I was forced to move around a lot. One time, I was even living in a licensed group home. But I didn’t like it. There were so many rules and restrictions in the group home. I knew living on my own was a better fit for me.
"There are so many more people with developmental disabilities that need HOPE housing."
Because of donors like you, I was able to move into a HOPE Independent Living home. I am a social person, and I am very proud to live on my own. I do not drive, but I do take the bus with friends and family to do activities like eat out, shop, and sightsee. I have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. I enjoy spending time and seeing them every other week. One of the reasons I can see my grandkids is because of how close my HOPE home is to my family. None of this would have happened without people supporting HOPE.
The word “Home” to me means “a roof over my head where I can be comfortable, make friends, and get to know my neighbors.” I love my HOPE home.
There are so many more people with developmental disabilities that need HOPE housing. Please consider making a gift today.
Sincerely,
