HOPE is excited to announce the hiring of our new Communications & Fundraising Coordinator, Lauren Quijano. She is responsible for creating compelling communications content for the organization and assisting with fundraising campaigns and events. Lauren brings extensive experience serving nonprofits and city agencies in the areas of public health and housing. Her background in community organizing brings dynamic skill sets that will amplify the voices of individuals that HOPE is committed to serving: “As a health advocate, I understand that having safe and affordable housing is crucial for our communities to thrive. I am proud to join HOPE in advancing our mission to empower the community, and I look forward to helping our residents live independently and with dignity.”



Before joining HOPE, Lauren served as the health justice community organizer with a public interest law firm in New York City and worked on campaigns related to healthy accessible housing. In 2018, Lauren joined the coalition for Asthma Free Homes contributing to the passing of Local Law 55 which amended the administrative code in NYC to prevent indoor asthma allergen hazards. In a previous role as a Tenant Support Specialist in NYC, Lauren helped over 120 tenants maintain safe and affordable housing. She served as a lead participant to the Community Health Worker Learning Collaborative under New York City’s Department of Health, creating curriculum for improving health equity across NYC. Lauren is a certified Mental Health First Aid USA Instructor. She received her Global Leadership certificate at UC Irvine. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health Policy and International Studies from UC Irvine.
