New Resident Video Highlights How HOPE's Supportive Housing Model Increases Independence

HOPE is excited to announce the release of our latest resident profile video, featuring HOPE resident Julio!

Last year, when Julio realized he no longer needed around-the-clock medical care, he communicated his desire to live independently in his own home. At the time, Julio was asked about his dreams and ambitions. He responded, “My biggest dream for the future is to prosper and succeed in my own home.” At the time his service coordinator realized that HOPE’s Supportive Housing model would work well for Julio as an option for moving from the nursing facility and transitioning to living on his own.

Thanks to HOPE’s Supportive Housing Model and our partners at California MENTOR and Harbor Regional Center, Julio has increased his independence and level of confidence. Watch how he describes his journey towards independence and how he plans to make his dreams a reality.

HOPE Supportive Housing provides residents with individual units and access to broader supported living services from staff working out of dedicated, on-site offices. This model is designed for people who are interested in moving from more restrictive housing models, such as 24-hour residential care homes, institutions, or hospitalized settings, or who are transitioning out of living in a parent’s home.

Many more individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are waiting to move into HOPE’s supportive housing. Join us in making their dreams possible. Donate at: http://www.hope-homes.org/ways-to-give/donate/.
